~ 2~The Price Of Becoming

It’s funny, to me, at least, how easily we can forget everything good in our lives. How a minor inconvenience can spin us down, back towards whichever hole we fight every day to climb out of. How remarkably easy it is to see past the light, past the good, past the gratefulness and just dig into anger, sadness, guilt, pain, fear, comfort…and yet when something good does appear in our lives again, and lasts, we forget to be grateful for it.

For the reminder that everything bad is always accompanied by the good.

The reminder that everything exists in pairs, yet the shift between turning into each singularity is coloured with the way we act, believe, strive for. You can choose to see how the bad was meant for you to find the good, how everything that hurt you, grew you. And the shift that happened when the good came, happened because of you continuing to believe it will. The grey area around everything was filled with your hope, your knowing, your acting towards the other side of the field.

Or you can choose to live in despair. To live in conviction that you cannot get your good, and are forever caught in the evil. You can push away each ounce of light, of joy, in fear you cannot get it. You do not grasp for it. You are not grateful for the relief it brings, and the courage for you to keep moving forward. You do not see the reminder in it. And you lose yourself, living plainly. Miserably. Filled with envy. Jealousy. You lose your way out.

But, you see, that’s just it, the magic of life, of humanity. You can always turn the page, see a different picture. You can always change, evolve, if you begin to believe you can. If you act like you can and already are the person you so desperately wish to live like, be like.

The only price life demands is that you accept that it is up to you, only you. To decide. To act. To believe. To work.

No one is coming to save you, and no one will change you. No one, but you.
